Our suggestions

  • When travelling, split the contents of your luggage on both outward and inward journeys, so you have a mixture of things in both cases.  Then if one case is delayed or goes missing, you won’t be stuck with nothing to wear.

  • Do not pack expensive items in your checked in luggage, such as jewellery, watches, mobile phones, or iPods.  Wear the jewellery and safely pack iPods, etc in a zip pocket in your hand luggage.

  • Imagine if you lost something valuable or of sentimental value – that you could not replace – then don’t take it on holiday.

  • Check your personal possessions cover limits on your travel insurance and make sure you don’t take anything worth over the limit.  It may be that you can get these items covered on your home contents insurance, who may have higher cover limits.

  • Expensive watches are a target for criminals and are visible, play it safe and take a cheap alternative watch with you.

  • Keep medication in your hand luggage, keep a note of any medication should you lose any, even a copy of your prescription in case you need to get more overseas.

  • Decant your favorite toiletries into smaller bottles, you can buy these in many high street pharmacies. That way you save space in your case.

  • If you have expensive face creams, decant these into smaller containers, so if you lose any, you won’t have lost the whole tub or bottle.

  • Put your toiletries into re-sealable freezer bags, make sure they are properly sealed, then if there is any spillage en-route, it won’t spill and ruin any of your clothes.

  • Pack small sun-cream in your hand luggage in case you get stuck out in the sun at any point – to avoid sunburn.

  • Don’t forget your travel insurance!!!
