Diabetes and holiday insurance

  • Published on

Trying to find holiday insurance with diabetes can be a challenge, as it can with any pre-existing medical condition! At ERV, we’ve created our Medi-Care policies to make it as easy as possible for people with pre-existing medical conditions like diabetes, to get a quote for the cover they need for their next holiday.

Holiday Insurance With Diabetes

We understand that there are many different types of diabetes, and so we make sure that we treat every policy holder as an individual when arranging their insurance. Our simple medical screening questions aim to help us understand your needs and offer you cover that suits your condition.

Medical Screening Questions

Because your condition is unique to you, our questions might be different to somebody else with a similar diabetic condition. Whilst this means that we don’t have a list of questions for any specific medical condition, when screening for diabetes you might be asked questions like the ones below:

  • Do you take insulin for your diabetes?
  • How many hospital admissions have you had for diabetes in the last year?
  • Have you ever been advised to take medication for high blood pressure or high cholesterol?
  • Have you ever been a smoker?

Travelling With Diabetes

We know that you’re probably more than used to managing your diabetes, especially if you’ve had the condition for some time, but we do have some useful tips and advice on our travelling with diabetes page if you want to see what other ideas we’ve picked up from others with the condition.

That page includes tips on travel planning, diet & exercise, activities & facilities as well as dealing with your medication while you are away. It also includes some useful links to other diabetes related information pages and related conditions.

In addition to that page, we also have a blog on Important considerations for travelling with diabetes which has information on additional things to think about when you have diabetes and are travelling such as:

  • Things To Consider Before You Go
  • Considerations when flying
    • Security
    • During the flight
  • When you arrive
  • Additional information on diet
    • Inflight food

So with a wealth of information on holiday insurance with diabetes, and our easy to use medical screening process, we try to make getting your travel insurance as straight forward as it can be.
