The below listing provides information on Countries and Territories that ETI regards as “high risk zones” no matter whether the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) likewise have issued a travel warning.

War Zones

  • Afghanistan: Whole Country
  • Burundi: Whole country
  • Democratic Republic of Congo: Whole Country
  • Central African Republic: Whole Country
  • Chad: Whole Country, except the capital
  • Egypt: North Sinai Governorate
  • Georgia: Break-away republics South Ossetia and Abkhazia and their borders with rump Georgia to a depth of 25 kms.
  • Haiti: In Port-au-Prince: areas Bel-Air, Carrefour, Cite Soleil, Jean Marie Vincent and Montissant; town of Cap Haitien.
  • India: Immediate borders with Pakistan, except the crossing at Wagah. Jammu and Kashmir except Ladakh District.
  • Iraq: Whole Country
  • Israel: Gaza.
  • Libya: Whole Country
  • Mali: Rest of Country
  • Nigeria: Rivers State except Port Harcourt proper; Borno State and Yobe State; cities of Kaduna and Kano.
  • Pakistan: Kashmir at Line of Control out to 50km and Federally Administered Tribal Areas. Entire provinces of Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  • Philippines: Jolo Group
  • Russia: Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan & North Ossetia
  • Somalia: Enitre Country except autonomous area of Somaliland
  • South Sudan: Whole Country
  • Sudan: Darfur Provinces, South Kordofan and further border areas between Noth and Soth Sudan.
  • Syria: Whole Country
  • Turkey: Provinces Diyarbakuiz, Hakkâri Mardin and
    Sirnak. Border with Syria to a depth of
  • Uganda: The North Eastern districts of Kapchorwa, Katakwi, Kotido, Moroto and Nakapiripirit. Immediate borders with the DR Congo and Sudan except urban areas.
  • Ukraine: Donetsk and Luhansk Regions

  • Israel: West Bank, Jerusalem proper and the Golan heights. Internal (1967) borders between Israel, the Gaza Strip and West Bank, plus the borders with Egypt, Lebanon and Syria.
  • Jordan: The Syrian border to a depth of 5km.
  • Kenya: Slum areas of Nairobi. All of Garissa County. Somali border to a depth of 50km. City of Mombasa and coast from 30km south of Lamu north to the Somalia border.
  • Laos: Provinces Xieng Khouang and Saisomboun Special Economic Zone.
  • Lebanon: Area between the Israeli border and the Litani River as well as the Bekaa Valley. Urban areas and all UNRWA refugee camps, and Syrian border areas.
  • Liberia: Counties Grand Gedeh and Gee. Borders with Guinea and Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire).
  • Mali: Bamako proper
  • Mexico: States of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango,Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonara and Tamaulipas. Rural areas in states of Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nayarit, San Louis Potosi and Zacatecas.
  • Niger: All areas north of Niamey
  • Nigeria: All areas north of Niamey; Nigerian border in provinces Maradi, Zinder and Diffa to 50km depth.
